Hoop Shoot 2021

About Hoop Shoot

Through the Hoop Shoot program, the Elks have been developing and reinforcing grit for nearly 50 years long before researchers and experts concluded that grit is so important for our children. Just listen to the parents and contestants inĀ  these videos. They’re talking about grit.

Basketball Hall of Fame

Each year, the names of the six national champions are inscribed in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Two of the Frank Hise National Champions are in attendance when the inductees are honored at the Enshrinement Ceremony.

Morgan Wootten Lifetime Achievement Award

The Elks Hoop Shoot is the proud new sponsor of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame’s annual Morgan Wootten Lifetime Achievement Award. The Hall of Fame awards two Wootten Awards annually to boys and girls high school coaches who have dedicated their lives to the betterment of student athletes. The award is named for Morgan Wootten, a legendary high school basketball coach enshrined at the Hall of Fame.

As we draw closer to the end of our Hoop Shoot Season, we will begin the National Final Competition 2019-2020 which was suspended last year due to the pandemic. All of this year and last year’s winners did a great job and I want to thank the Lodges who participated this year. Congratulations and good luck to M. Hoffpauir from the Albany Lodge who will be competing in the 8-9 year old girls National Finals.

I want to thank all of the volunteers for giving their time to make this year a success. We are getting ready for next year season and several more Lodges in our state are committing to holding local shoots. It is a great opportunity to reach out into our communities to show them the good work that we as Elks do for our Children. You may also gain new members through your participation in this program.
